🏅 Track town triumphs

Marion County • March 19, 2025

Good morning, Marion County. The starting blocks have been cleared and the victory podiums are still warm after Marion County's track stars left their mark at the state indoor championships. Mount Gilead's Will Baker blazed to a state title in the 1,600 meters, while Highland's Jett Black soared 15-2 to claim pole vault gold. It's a reminder that even in winter, our local athletes aren't hibernating—they're breaking records and collecting medals.

Meanwhile, the Friday night lights of Marion Harding football will soon shine on a familiar face. C.J. Westler, a 2006 Harding graduate and former college quarterback standout, has returned home to lead the Presidents' football program. The 37-year-old brings his offensive expertise back to where his journey began, completing a full-circle moment that adds another chapter to the rich Marion County sports legacy.
