🛣️ Road revival

Licking County • April 9, 2025

Good morning, Licking County. The streets of Groveport are about to get a $1.5 million makeover as the city prepares for its 2025 maintenance program. Bids are due in April for the ambitious project that will tackle everything from aging alleys to portions of Bixby Road, with work slated to begin in late May. As City Engineer Steve Farst notes, the relentless combination of traffic, weather, and drainage takes its toll on pavement—a reality familiar to anyone who's navigated Ohio roads after winter's retreat.

On the real estate front, a slice of Columbus history has hit the market with a stunning 155-year-old German Village home listed at $1.2 million. The Jackson Street property, completely renovated while preserving its historic charm, features exposed brick walls and a backyard oasis complete with hot tub and cocktail pool. Meanwhile, a sobering reminder of road safety comes after a high-speed Kia ran a red light Tuesday morning, critically injuring three people in a crash that authorities say involved an unlicensed driver.

🛣️ Groveport's street maintenance bids due in April for $1.5M project. The Ohio city's 2025 street program will potentially include work on multiple alleys, portions of Bixby Road, and shared-use paths in Groveport Park. City Engineer Steve Farst released a tentative list of streets for renovation, with work expected to begin in late May and finish by October. The maintenance will vary by location - some streets will receive concrete replacement while others will have asphalt milled and repaved. Farst explained that pavement deteriorates over time due to traffic volume, weather, drainage and other stressors, making regular maintenance essential for the city's infrastructure.
