🔐 Professor removed from course after Israeli detention in international waters. Ohio University film professor Thomas Hayes was taken off his teaching duties immediately after returning from being kidnapped by Israeli forces. Hayes was part of a humanitarian flotilla to Gaza when the vessel was hijacked, and he was imprisoned at Ketziot Prison. University officials claim they removed him for providing online lectures during his absence without proper approval, violating in-person teaching requirements. Hayes believes the administration acted hastily to limit his contact with students, noting the decision was made while he was still detained.

Mayor Tom Joyce aired frustrations with the West Virginia Division of Highways before city council unanimously approved a resolution demanding improved road maintenance. Joyce highlighted problems with untimely mowing, traffic signal repairs, and stormwater drainage issues that the state agency often refuses to address. The mayor emphasized the city can't afford to handle both its responsibilities and those belonging to the state. Council also approved reappointments to the Board of Zoning Appeals after questions about the appointment process were raised during the public forum.
