Jackson County • August 7, 2025
Good morning, Jackson County. Across America, 2-3% of children don't have beds to call their ownβa startling reality being tackled right here by Rotarians Steve Westfall and Amy Ditto. These newly crowned Co-Rotarians of the Year are bringing Sleep in Heavenly Peace to our community, with their first bed build happening this Sunday. Their commitment to ensuring every child has a comfortable place to sleep reminds us how local initiatives can address often-invisible needs.
Meanwhile, our region's artistic landscape continues to flourish as Point Park's five-year mural project reaches its fifth stage. Artists Christopher Santer and Edward Escandon have added 4,000 square feet of new artwork featuring the opening notes of "Almost Heaven, West Virginia." The vibrant creation stands in colorful contrast to the Athens County Court calendar, which reveals dozens of serious criminal cases moving through the justice systemβa reminder of the complex fabric that makes up our community.
