Good morning, Jackson County. August is bringing a wave of entertainment to our region that might just have you marking your calendar multiple times. The historic Smoot Theatre is shaking up its usual lineup with "A Twist on Taylor," featuring Swift lookalike and soundalike Sarah Jessica on August 8—a bold move by director Felice Jorgeson to attract younger faces to the venerable venue while still honoring their tradition of tribute performances.
Meanwhile, royalty has been crowned as Maggie Belle Davis of Bidwell earned her 2025 Miss Gallia County title on the fair's opening night. The accomplished high school senior's victory coincides perfectly with the approaching Mason County Fair, which kicks off August 4 with six days of entertainment ranging from country star Sara Evans to motorsports, rodeos, and family-friendly Midway attractions. Summer in the valley is certainly hitting its festive stride.

🎵 Taylor Swift tribute act brings youthful energy to historic theater. The Smoot Theatre in Parkersburg is hosting "A Twist on Taylor" on August 8, featuring Sarah Jessica, who resembles Swift in both appearance and voice. Theater director Felice Jorgeson hopes the unusual booking will attract younger audiences to the historic venue. The 7 p.m. show costs $45 and marks a shift from the theater's typical programming, which includes upcoming tributes to The Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, and Aretha Franklin.
