Good morning, Jackson County. The creative talents of our senior community will soon take center stage as the 43rd annual Older Adult Art Show approaches. With painting, photography, and written works all welcome at the September exhibition in Waverly, this celebration of artistic expression is a powerful reminder that creativity knows no age limit. Artists 55 and up have until mid-August to submit their masterpieces for this beloved regional tradition.
Meanwhile, contrasting developments are shaping our region's future. Ohio's highways have seen a troubling series of accidents, from rollovers to backing collisions, with weather conditions and maintenance issues playing significant roles in many incidents. On the economic front, a $150,000 investment in Wood County aims to transform the Athey Property and Polymer Alliance Zone into manufacturing-ready sites that could bring high-paying jobs to the area—a bright spot of potential growth amid challenging times.

🚨 Ohio highways see rash of crashes and vehicle mishaps. The Ohio State Highway Patrol released reports detailing multiple accidents across the state, including a truck rollover on SR 555 and a backing collision on County Road 20. Weather played a role in some incidents, with Andrew Lowe's Toyota overturning due to low tire tread during inclement conditions. Other incidents involved improper lane changes, utility line damage, and deer collisions. Most drivers escaped without serious injuries, though several received citations for violations like failure to control and improper backing.
🏭 West Virginia invests $150,000 to attract manufacturing jobs. Governor Patrick Morrisey awarded the funds to Wood County Development Authority for developing the Athey Property and Polymer Alliance Zone Industrial Park. The funding is part of Morrisey's 'Grow West Virginia' economic plan, which aims to leverage the Ready Sites Program to create job-ready locations. The money can be used for engineering studies and architectural needs to prepare sites for manufacturing or industrial entities. Morrisey emphasized that this investment will provide high-paying wages in the region while addressing critical infrastructure needs.
