Jackson County • June 24, 2025
Good morning, Jackson County. Remember that vacant Kmart building on Division Street that's been sitting empty? July 1st marks its transformation into a 72,000-square-foot outdoor supply superstore. Green's Supply Depot is rolling out the red carpet with music, food trucks, and even a bounce house—quite the evolution from their humble beginnings as a small feed store in 1963. The one-stop shop promises everything from hunting gear to tractors for outdoor enthusiasts and contractors alike.
Meanwhile, the spirit of service is alive and well as Brothers' Keeper celebrates 25 years of youth-led community transformation. With 76 young volunteers completing around 40 projects throughout the county—building ramps and repairing homes for veterans and vulnerable residents—the program continues changing lives on both sides of the hammer. Over in Wood County, Tuesday's Board meeting will determine the names, colors, and mascots that will shape the identities of two new elementary schools for generations to come.
