Good morning, Jackson County. Mark your calendars for a literary celebration as Bloomsday brings Virginia Woolf's world to the Athena Cinema. The free screening of "Mrs. Dalloway" on June 16th offers the perfect opportunity to don your 1920s attire and raise a special cocktail in honor of the late Dr. Carey Snyder, whose passion for Woolf's work continues to inspire our community. This thoughtful tribute coincides perfectly with the return of Good Works' Summer Lunch program, ensuring no one in Athens goes hungry during the warmer months.

While literature feeds the soul, Good Works is nourishing bodies with their annual Summer Lunch initiative running weekdays from June 16 to July 30. The program welcomes everyone regardless of needβ€”a true embodiment of community spirit. Meanwhile, for outdoor enthusiasts across the river, West Virginia's Division of Natural Resources is accepting applications for controlled waterfowl hunts at McClintic Wildlife Management Area, with an August 15 deadline approaching for those hoping to secure their spot in this seasonal tradition.
