Jackson County • June 4, 2025
Good morning, Jackson County. Southern Ohio stands united this week in honoring one of its own. The solemn procession bringing Marine Cpl. Nathaniel Curtis home on June 3rd will wind through communities where residents can pay their respects to the 21-year-old Lucasville native who served with distinction before his untimely passing in Okinawa. The flags, folded hands, and quiet tributes along the route will reflect what military service has always meant in our corner of America.
Amid this reflection, our cultural calendar fills with lighter moments too. The Actors Guild of Parkersburg prepares to deliver laughs with "Lend Me a Soprano," a 1930s-set farce opening June 13th, while teenage photographer Noah Strickler's wildlife images grace WesBanco's downtown walls. The high schooler's journey from seven-year-old shutterbug to having his work selected for the Benezette Elk Country Visitor Center's calendar reminds us that remarkable talent flourishes at every age in our community.

Director Greg Merritt praises his talented cast and crew as the Guild approaches its milestone 70th season next year.
