Good morning, Jackson County. In a striking display of artistic talent, Joyce Boone's animal portraits are drawing admiring crowds to downtown Parkersburg's WesBanco. Her skillful use of graphite pencils, watercolor, and ink brings pets and wildlife to vibrant life for visitors to enjoy through May during regular banking hours. This celebration of creativity stands in stark contrast to the dramatic scene in Belpre, where firefighters battled an early morning blaze that completely consumed a historic church on Hollywood Drive, leaving investigators puzzling over a live power line at a building without active electrical service.

As one historic structure falls, another seeks renewal through community support. Wellston Hope Methodist Church's century-old pipe organ has fallen silent, but a May 10th Chinese Auction at South Elementary School aims to raise the $10,000 needed to restore its melodic voice. With tickets starting at just $3, attendees can enjoy concessions while potentially winning prizes like a Blackstone Grillβ€”all while helping preserve a musical treasure that's witnessed a hundred years of local history.
