πŸ•ŠοΈ News of note

Jackson County • March 24, 2025

Good morning, Jackson County. A somber cloud hangs over our community as we receive news of Tuesday's deadly shooting in Williamstown that claimed the life of 37-year-old Matthew Allen Briggs and left his partner wounded. While authorities continue their investigation into this tragedy on Maple Drive, our thoughts remain with those affected by this senseless violence.

In a turn toward more hopeful developments, approximately 125 probationary employees from Parkersburg's Bureau of the Fiscal Service have been offered reinstatement following court rulings that deemed their terminations illegal. And for those tracking local education matters, the Vinton County Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday, addressing personnel considerations and confidential matters. The board's focus on student career planning continues, following their recent Job Fair at the high school.
