🧹 Coshocton calls on community to clean up the town together. The 21st annual Big Coshocton Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, April 26, starting with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the court square gazebo. Volunteers will receive assigned areas, free donuts, water, garbage bags, and the first 50 participants get complimentary t-shirts. Special collection efforts include Kimble's container for old furniture at the fairgrounds and Boy Scouts collecting old appliances for recycling. The United Way of Coshocton County invites individuals, families, businesses, and civic groups to join this community beautification effort.
🏥 Clinic for uninsured workers seeks new leader after director retires. Pat Warther is stepping down from the Tuscarawas Clinic for the Working Uninsured after nearly 11 years as executive director. Under her leadership, the Dover-based clinic expanded services, adding a dental program in 2016 and extending eligibility to all Tuscarawas County workers in 2023. The clinic provides primary medical care, lab testing, prescription assistance and limited dental care to the working uninsured. Applications for her replacement are being accepted until April 18, with the new director expected to oversee all clinic operations.
🚶♀️ Holmes County launches spring trail walks to keep seniors upright. The Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne is adding two walking events to encourage daily physical activity and prevent falls among older adults. The first walk is scheduled for April 25 at Walnut Hills Retirement Community, with a second following on May 16 at Deer Run Park in Millersburg. Both walks will last about an hour, with potential cancellations for extreme weather to be announced on social media and local radio. Participants are advised to wear appropriate footwear for the trails.
West Holmes Knights squeezed past the Wooster Generals 5-3 in Ohio Cardinal league action Monday, evening their record at 4-4 while dropping the Generals to 3-3. The rematch is already set for Wednesday, giving Wooster minimal time to adjust their game plan.Meanwhile, the Hiland Hawks remained perfect at 8-0 after edging the Garaway Pirates 2-1 in a nail-biter of an Inter Valley South showdown. The Pirates (3-2) won't have to wait long for revenge, as these teams are set for an immediate rematch Wednesday in what's shaping up to be baseball's version of Groundhog Day.
