🚲 Tiny racers roll

Hocking County • August 4, 2025

Good morning, Hocking County. The streets of Lancaster transformed into a miniature racetrack of imagination last week, where tiny Ghostbusters and dinosaurs pedaled their way to glory. Five-year-old Luka Kimes donned his proton pack while four-year-old Noah Ramsburg roared down the track as a T-Rex with streaming decorations at the Lancaster Festival Bike Races. Meanwhile, six-year-old Kai Bailes showed he might be destined for the Tour de France, capturing first place in his age division heat.

Beyond the playful pedaling, Trimble School District faces a more serious journey toward financial stability. A proposed 1% earned income tax levy is advancing toward November's ballot, potentially generating $665,000 annually over five years to address a projected $11 million deficit. State commission members unanimously approved the measure, with interim Superintendent Lindy Douglas noting that retirees on fixed incomes would be exempt from the financial burden.
