Good morning, Hocking County. After more than four decades of dedicated healthcare service, a local legend is preparing to hang up his stethoscope. Doug Fisher, our county's health commissioner, has announced his retirement effective June 2025, capping a remarkable career that spanned private practice, medical centers, universities, and 22 years in public health leadership. Fisher's legacy of collaboration—working alongside everyone from judges to first responders—has helped shape healthcare access and outcomes across our community for generations.

In judicial news, Lancaster's courtrooms have been bustling with activity as the Fairfield County Municipal Court processed 22 cases in a single week. The recent slate of sentences primarily featured theft, assault, and domestic violence charges, with most defendants receiving partially suspended jail terms. These cases highlight the ongoing challenges our regional justice system faces in balancing accountability with rehabilitation as we move through the summer months.
