🗳️ December dilemma

Good morning, Hocking County. Talk about a governmental time warp! Nelsonville finds itself in an unprecedented situation where they need officials to serve for just one month this December. As the city transitions from its 30-year charter system back to statutory government, there's a peculiar gap where no one would be authorized to keep the lights on. The proposed solution? Electing two separate slates of officials this November—one group for December's governmental equivalent of a temp job, and another for regular terms starting January.

Meanwhile, the pages of local yearbooks come alive through heartwarming graduation galleries spanning nearly two decades across area schools. From Fairfield Union's emotional 2014 ceremony to Millersport and Fisher Catholic's proud traditions, these frozen-in-time snapshots capture it all—nervous cap adjustments, triumphant mortarboard tosses, tearful teacher hugs, and that unmistakable look of accomplishment as diplomas change hands. These visual time capsules remind us how quickly milestone moments become cherished memories.

🗳️ Nelsonville needs officials to serve for just one month. The Ohio city faces a December gap in government as it transitions from a charter system back to its pre-charter structure. Current elected terms end November 30, but newly elected officials won't take office until January 1, potentially leaving no one to conduct essential business. A citizen commission has proposed electing two slates of candidates in November - one to serve only during December and another for full terms starting January. The unusual situation stems from voters overwhelmingly approving Issue 23 last November, which abolishes the city charter after 30 years.
