Good morning, Hocking County. Economic lifelines are extending across Eastern Ohio as the Dale Hileman Legacy Fund distributes $2,500 in community grants. Three forward-thinking projects—from museum renovations to entrepreneurship support and student internships—will benefit from this financial boost, continuing Hileman's dedication to Appalachian Ohio's development. The investment in our region's future comes at a perfect time as communities work to strengthen their economic foundations.

Meanwhile, a dramatic race against time is unfolding in New Straitsville, where a 150-year-old historic building has narrowly escaped the wrecking ball. The structure, which once served triple duty as town hall, firehouse, and jail, now awaits its fate as preservationists scramble to create a salvation plan. Over in Perry County, residents can mark their calendars with a full slate of local government meetings scheduled throughout May, ensuring plenty of opportunities for civic engagement.
