Hamilton County • October 28, 2025
Good morning, Hamilton County. The Queen City has officially earned its crown in the Halloween kingdom, landing at #18 on WalletHub's ranking of America's top spooky cities. While Cincinnati might not be the friendliest turf for trick-or-treaters (64th), it dominates in Halloween fun with more costume stores per capita than anywhere else in the country. Add in our nearly perfect Halloween weather (ranked 4th) and attractions like Kings Island's Halloween Haunt, and it's clear we know how to celebrate the season of spirits.
Beyond seasonal celebrations, Cincinnati's future is taking center stage this winter with the inaugural Power 25 reception honoring the region's economic champions. Meanwhile, the conversation around community safety continues as City Council candidate Gary Favors advocates for addressing root causes of crime through education and housing initiatives rather than reactionary approaches—a vision for building stronger neighborhoods from the ground up.

🎃 Cincinnati ranks among America's top Halloween hotspots for spooky fun. A new WalletHub study placed the Queen City at No. 18 overall among the 100 largest U.S. cities for Halloween celebrations. While Cincinnati scored poorly for trick-or-treater friendliness (64th), it shined brightly in the "Halloween Fun" category, ranking 8th nationally and claiming the #1 spot for costume stores per capita. The city also earned high marks for its Halloween weather (4th) and abundance of candy shops and haunted attractions. Local Halloween highlights include Kings Island's Halloween Haunt, the Dent Schoolhouse, and family-friendly events at the Cincinnati Zoo and Heritage Village Museum.
🏙️ Cincinnati needs vision, not reaction, to fight crime effectively. Gary Favors, a teacher and City Council candidate, argues that crime prevention starts with meeting basic needs and creating hope. He's witnessed firsthand how students struggle when hungry or lacking stable housing, emphasizing that whole-person approaches are essential for community improvement. Favors envisions innovative solutions like affordable housing for teachers who mentor neighborhood youth, drawing from his own upbringing with supportive parents, church, and school communities. His platform focuses on strengthening families through education, affordable housing, and addressing root causes of crime rather than merely reacting to problems.
