Good morning, Hamilton County. At a leisurely 4 mph, the Belle of Cincinnati will be offering a rare perspective this summer that most of us never experience—seeing our river towns from the water itself. This historic paddlewheel riverboat embarks on its annual Summer Cruise Tour starting July 24, visiting five cities along the Ohio River and giving passengers a chance to literally watch the world drift by, a welcome counterpoint to our typically accelerated lives.
The economic currents are flowing strongly in our region as well, with GE Aerospace pumping $113 million into southwest Ohio's economy. This investment between Cincinnati and Dayton is already creating ripple effects beyond manufacturing—boosting housing markets, retail businesses, and supplier networks throughout the corridor. Meanwhile, Cincinnati Archbishop Robert Casey celebrated a special multilingual Mass at Springfield's St. Raphael Church, emphasizing hospitality for the thousands of Haitian immigrants who have established roots in our community.

🙏 Archbishop welcomes Haitian immigrants amid deportation uncertainty. During a special Mass at Springfield's St. Raphael Church, Cincinnati Archbishop Robert Casey emphasized hospitality and compassion for the estimated 12,000-15,000 Haitian immigrants who have settled in the region. Governor Mike DeWine attended the multilingual service, which was conducted in English, Creole, and Spanish to accommodate the diverse congregation. Casey urged lawmakers to approach immigration policies with "a human heart," recognizing the impact on families who have established roots in the community. Despite facing scrutiny and deportation threats, most Haitian immigrants in Springfield have secured jobs, enrolled their children in schools, and accessed essential services.
