🎨 Creative crossroads

Hamilton County • March 21, 2025

Good morning, Hamilton County. Cincinnati's creative landscape is flourishing with multi-dimensional artists like Nikki Forte, who seamlessly navigates between tattooing, photography, and radio hosting with authentic passion. Meanwhile, transgender musician Kelly Eryn is crafting her musical identity through independent production and live performances with her backing band, The Midnight Vigil, while working on her genre-spanning debut LP "Manifesto" that promises to showcase her artistic evolution beyond EDM.

On the healthcare front, Cincinnati Children's Hospital isn't just taking care of our community's youngest residents—it's also earning national recognition as one of America's best employers. Ranking 30th out of 701 companies nationwide in Forbes' prestigious list, the hospital stands as Southwest Ohio's largest employer with over 19,500 staff members. This seventh consecutive appearance on the list highlights what locals already know: our pediatric healthcare system delivers world-class care while creating exceptional workplaces.

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

Brewing Locally Image

🎵 Cincinnati's Nikki Forte wears many creative hats with passion. As a tattoo artist with her own studio in Centerville, she also photographs bands and co-hosts a radio show where she interviews musicians. Forte believes authenticity is the key to success, encouraging others to "do a deep dive into who you are" to naturally attract the right audience. Rather than gender, she found that financial security, support systems, and managing her AuDHD were her biggest career challenges. The summer of 2024 was especially memorable for Forte, connecting with favorite bands and forming new friendships in the music scene.

🎵 Transgender musician Kelly Eryn creates art through resilience and authenticity. This multi-instrumentalist writes, records, and produces all her music independently, performing live with her backing band, The Midnight Vigil. Despite facing significant challenges as a transgender woman during politically hostile times, Kelly has found support within Cincinnati's music scene while battling impostor syndrome and societal prejudice. She's currently working on her first LP titled "Manifesto," which will showcase her evolution beyond EDM roots into genres like R&B and prog rock, while also collaborating with other trans and nonbinary artists. Kelly hopes listeners find comfort in her vulnerability and that her honesty about personal struggles helps others feel less alone.
