Geauga County • September 18, 2025
Good morning, Geauga County. Leadership transitions aren't just for politics—they're happening right in our spiritual community as Congregation Mishkan Or prepares to welcome Rabbi Andi Berlin as their interim leader. The Cleveland native brings 25 years of experience to Beachwood, starting part-time this October before assuming full duties through June 2026. It's a thoughtful passing of the torch as Rabbi Robert Nosanchuk prepares for retirement after years of dedicated service.
History and literature are having quite different experiences across our county this week. While Sandy Pavick prepares to bring Painesville's rich heritage to life at her October 2 book event at Wickliffe Library, Fairport Harbor faces the unfortunate reality of vandalism at a community book box. The senseless destruction, which occurred Tuesday morning, has local police seeking information about pages torn from books and scattered along a beach path—a stark contrast to the celebration of words happening just miles away.

📚 Vandals rip apart free library books, scatter pages along beach path. In Fairport Harbor, Ohio, someone tore pages from multiple books in a community book box and strewed them down a beach access ramp. The vandalism occurred Tuesday morning between 9 a.m. and noon at the little library located at the end of Vine Street. Police are seeking information about the incident, which damaged a resource maintained by Friends of the Library volunteers. "This not only damages property but takes away from a resource meant for everyone to enjoy," police said in their appeal for community help.
