Geauga County • September 8, 2025
Good morning, Geauga County. Roxbury Elementary students are getting an unexpected extension to their summer break as conflicting asbestos test results have shuttered the Solon school until at least September 10. While officials await conclusive verification, district leadership is scrambling to establish alternate classroom locations, demonstrating that when it comes to student safety, even microscopic concerns trigger major responses.
Meanwhile, your morning commute might need rethinking as significant road closures begin Monday across northeast Ohio. Portions of Route 44 in Portage County and U.S. 322 in Ashtabula County will be closed through most of September, forcing drivers onto designated detour routes. In less constructive transportation news, Pepper Pike officials are dealing with a different kind of road issue – at least 10 traffic signs now bear crude anatomical artwork courtesy of vandals armed with blue, red, and gray paint.
