Good morning, Geauga County. History comes alive beyond textbook pages this season as Willoughby Middle School teacher Christy Downs secures funding to transport her eighth-graders to the James A. Garfield National Historic Site. This hands-on learning opportunity, made possible through the American Battlefield Trust's grant program, will allow students to walk the same grounds as our nation's 20th president—proving that sometimes the most memorable classroom isn't a classroom at all.

From presidential history to cultural celebrations, our community continues to showcase its vibrant diversity. The Painesville Square recently transformed for HOLA Ohio's third annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, filling the air with traditional music, dancing, and the irresistible aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine. Meanwhile, a reminder that even peaceful neighborhoods face occasional disruptions, as evidenced by a recent confrontation involving a dog walker in Chagrin Falls that fortunately ended with the suspect's peaceful surrender.
