💬 Online trades caution

Geauga County • March 5, 2025

Good morning, Geauga County. A startling statistic to consider: it takes just seconds on social media to arrange a sale, but mere moments for that transaction to turn deadly. Cleveland Heights authorities are now untangling a troubling case where four men allegedly used online platforms to orchestrate robberies, with two facing murder charges after what should have been a simple clothing exchange ended in tragedy. The case serves as a sobering reminder about digital interactions in our increasingly connected world.

On a more uplifting note, opportunities for growth and warmth abound despite the winter chill. The Winter Crisis Program continues offering vital heating assistance through March, while green thumbs can look forward to the Master Gardeners' upcoming shiitake mushroom workshop. There's something profoundly satisfying about growing your own food – especially when it involves transforming a simple log into a harvest of meaty, protein-rich fungi that would make any local chef proud.

🔪 Four men used social media to lure robbery victims in Cleveland Heights. Joseph Littlejohn and Messiah Payne face aggravated murder charges for allegedly killing Alexander Gurley during a clothing sale setup. Earlier the same day, all four defendants—including Quinten Manning and Camren Drewery—robbed a woman of AirPods after inviting her through social media. The suspects, who wore ski masks and carried guns during the robberies, appeared in court Tuesday where Littlejohn and Payne received $1.5 million bonds. Littlejohn also faces separate murder charges in another case where a woman's body was found in an East Cleveland backyard.
