Gallia County • October 8, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. A $152 million wave of transformation is about to wash over Ohio's riverfront communities, with Gallipolis set to receive $9 million for dock improvements, lighting, and a new amphitheater. This ambitious makeover of our waterfront spaces is part of Governor DeWine's initiative spanning 12 Appalachian counties, promising to enhance river access and breathe new life into historic downtowns across the region by 2026.
Amid this forward-looking development, our community is both honoring its past and confronting present challenges. The Battle Days festival recently brought Colonial history to vivid life at Point Pleasant's Tu-Endie-Wei State Park, with reenactors portraying historical figures from the 1774 conflict many consider the American Revolution's first battle. In sobering news, the community mourns the loss of 62-year-old Les Clark, who died Monday in a collision on State Route 7 that closed the highway for four hours while emergency responders worked at the scene.
