Gallia County • August 5, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. The future of Gallia County is getting a serious boost as local students recently dove into hands-on science at the COSI Roadshow. Middle and high schoolers weren't just playing with cool gadgetsβthey were glimpsing potential careers right in their own backyard. This collaborative effort between the Gallia Community Foundation and local businesses represents something powerful: a commitment to keeping our brightest young minds right here at home by showing them they don't need to leave to find meaningful STEMM careers.
Across the river, opportunity knocks in the form of $70,000 in community grants now available through the Lawrence County Community Foundation. With applications open until September 9 and typical awards of $5,000, these funds could transform local initiatives in everything from arts to health services. This positive news arrives alongside the heartbreaking loss of Heather Reger and 6-year-old Bryston Adkins in a tragic head-on collision that has left the community mourning while two other children remain hospitalized.
