🏛️ Legal eagles soar

Gallia County • March 11, 2025

Good morning, Gallia County. History was made on the debate floor as Gallia Academy's mock trial team reached the state finals for the first time ever. While they didn't advance further, seniors Leylah Eplin and Bella Johnson earned outstanding attorney honors, setting a new benchmark for future legal eagles. Their journey from November preparations to state competition showcases the remarkable talent developing in our classrooms – proving that courtroom confidence is alive and well in our corner of Ohio.

Meanwhile, the rumble of engines echoed through Point Pleasant as "Mothman's Revenge" attracted 350 off-road enthusiasts from 26 states, raising an impressive $24,000 for the Children's Home Society. As these adventurers tackled challenging terrain, local students can blaze their own trails through education with the newly available Emancipation Scholarships. With a 2.5 GPA requirement and an April 15 deadline, these funds continue a celebration tradition dating back to 1863 – supporting the next generation's journey toward success.

🚙 Off-road enthusiasts rally in Point Pleasant for adventurous fundraiser. The "24 Hours of Appalachia" event, nicknamed "Mothman's Revenge," drew approximately 180 vehicles and 350 participants from 26 states to tackle the course between Point Pleasant and Seneca Rocks. The rally raised $24,000 for the West Virginia Children's Home Society, while a companion event, "Off-Road on Main Street," featured vendors, food trucks, and an obstacle course. City Council member Gabe Roush organized the street festival to drive revenue to local businesses and raise funds for a mural honoring Karl Probst, Point Pleasant native who designed the first Jeep prototype. With strong turnout and community enthusiasm, organizers are already planning future editions of both events.
