Gallia County • March 6, 2025
Good morning, Gallia County. The landscape of Athens is about to get tastier as "The Lostro," a historic 1915 car dealership turned $11 million renovation project, welcomes Raising Cane's chicken fingers and Playa Bowls to its ground floor. While foodies celebrate new dining options, the upper floors are transforming into a 20-room extended stay hotel – proving that in Appalachia, even century-old buildings get delicious second acts.
Athletic excellence continues to shine as Gallia Academy's Brittyn Snedaker takes her track talents to Wittenberg University. Meanwhile, Point Pleasant is embracing its adventurous side this weekend as off-road enthusiasts converge for "Mothman's Revenge" and the "Off Road on Main Street" festival. With everything from food trucks to obstacle courses featuring minimum 31-inch tires, our region is demonstrating that whether on the track or the trail, we know how to make impressive forward momentum.

The renovated uptown landmark, now called "The Lostro," will house the chicken finger chain and fruit bowl shop on its ground floor. Indus Hotels, the Columbus-based owner, is transforming the upper floors into a 20-room extended stay hotel with full kitchens. Originally built as a car dealership in 1915, the $11 million renovation project is expected to be completed by fall. The company is still seeking a tenant for the basement of the building, which sits directly across from Ohio University's main entrance.
🏃♀️ Gallia Academy senior races toward collegiate dreams at Wittenberg. Brittyn Snedaker signed her letter of intent to join the Wittenberg University track team on Tuesday. The Ohio student expressed pride in advancing to compete at a higher level while acknowledging her coaches' role in her development. Snedaker cited the university's smaller campus size, friendly coach, and strong academic program in her desired major as key factors in her decision. The Wittenberg Tigers compete in the NCAA Division III North Coast Athletic Conference.
