Good morning, Franklin County. The summer's final crescendo has arrived with a weekend packed with festivities across Columbus! The expanded CBUS Soul Fest brings two days of vibrant celebration to the Scioto Mile, while CrestFest transforms South Clintonville into a free street party. Food enthusiasts can sample from 50 gourmet food trucks at the Columbus Food Festival—all happening alongside the Craft Crawl, Japan FestOH, and theatrical performances before school bells ring again.

Meanwhile, in a quiet studio in Merion Village, artist Janette Knowles is creating sustainable masterpieces from her garden's bounty. Her environmentally conscious textile art transforms backyard blooms into natural dyes, with her two-story workspace doubling as a community gathering spot. In more somber news, the murder trial for Pammy Maye has paused after she was found temporarily incompetent to stand trial in the death of 5-year-old Darnell Taylor, with treatment ordered for up to a year.

🎨 Artist transforms garden plants into sustainable textile masterpieces. Janette Knowles creates natural dyes from flowers grown in her own backyard garden for her textile art. Her two-story studio in Merion Village serves as both creative workspace and community gathering spot, where she hosts friends and reading clubs. Everything in her artistic process is environmentally conscious—all textiles are donated or gifted, and nothing goes to waste. Inspired by her farm upbringing and concerns about climate change, Knowles views her creations as "drops of goodness" she can share with the world.
