Good morning, Franklin County. The moving trucks tell a fascinating story about where Ohioans are heading in 2025. U-Haul's migration analysis reveals Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis as top destinations for Buckeye State residents seeking new horizons. Meanwhile, Central Ohio continues its population boom in areas like Sunbury and Pickerington, even as experts predict potential statewide population declines in coming years.

From life-saving transplants to life-saving intersections, remarkable stories of resilience and renewal are unfolding across our community. Carol Fitzsimons, who received a kidney transplant nearly 25 years ago, was recently honored at the Ohio Statehouse before heading to Germany for the Transplant Games. Closer to home, Columbus is investing $8 million to transform more than 20 high-crash intersections with improved lighting, signage, and infrastructure—because as Mayor Ginther noted, everyone deserves to travel safely, regardless of their mode of transportation.

🚚 Ohioans are flocking to Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis in 2025. U-Haul's midyear migration trends analysis reveals these cities as top destinations for Buckeye State residents seeking new homes. Cincinnati newcomers primarily arrive from Kentucky and Indiana, while Columbus attracts most new residents from Florida, and Cleveland welcomes the most people from Michigan. While Central Ohio experiences significant population growth in areas like Sunbury and Pickerington, experts predict the state's overall population could decline in coming years despite national growth trends.

🫀 Kidney transplant recipient honored at Ohio Statehouse for athletic achievements. State Representative Mark Hiner recognized Howard resident Carol Fitzsimons for her decades of competition in the Transplant Games, presenting her with an American flag before her Hall of Fame induction. Diagnosed with kidney disease at 17, Fitzsimons received a life-saving kidney from a colleague and has since participated in all 13 U.S. and World Transplant Games. Nearly 25 years post-transplant, she will compete in swimming events at this year's games in Germany while continuing her work as a Donate Life Ambassador with Lifeline of Ohio.

🚦 Columbus invests $8 million to fix dangerous intersections citywide. The historic $2.9 billion budget approved by City Council includes funding to improve more than 20 high-crash locations across the city. Mayor Andrew Ginther emphasized safety enhancements will include better lighting, signage, speed enforcement, and infrastructure upgrades like sidewalk repairs and median improvements. "If you are on foot, or on a bike, you deserve to be as safe as if you are in a car," Ginther stated.
