Good morning, Franklin County. The delicate balance between security and community is being tested as ICE conducted its fourth raid on Asian restaurants in Columbus this month, with three Hiro Ramen & Tea employees arrested. The restaurant has firmly denied calling authorities on their staff, emphasizing they understand "the hurt these raids cause" throughout the community. Meanwhile, a troubling incident in east Columbus has left a woman in critical condition after she was allegedly shot by 21-year-old Javir Green-Turner while confronting him during a car break-in attempt.
Amid these challenges, a new documentary is offering a fresh perspective on housing conversations. "United, The Hidden Story of the Humble Duplex" shifts the affordable housing discussion from statistics to human experiences through six personal stories. The 28-minute film by the Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio reminds viewers that diverse housing options benefit everyone at different life stages, with public screenings now being scheduled throughout the region.
