Good morning, Franklin County. The latest local Emmy count stands at an impressive 25 for Mike McCarthy, the Ohio University alum who recently secured the 5 p.m. anchor chair at ABC 6. His journey from film student to award-winning journalist showcases the power of hands-on experience, with McCarthy crediting his success to those formative years running cameras at WOUB. His rise through the ranks after 15 years as a Good Day Columbus reporter offers an inspiring glimpse of homegrown talent making good.

Meanwhile, contrasting scenes unfold across our community as citizens voice concerns about government services at a cleveland.com town hall, while the Cleveland Clinic expands its national footprint through surgical center partnerships. In more troubling news, an 18-year-old faces 20 felony counts after allegedly opening fire on Columbus police officers during a January confrontation that was captured on body cameras, adding to his existing armed robbery charges.

Participants expressed anxiety about essential services being dismantled and democratic guardrails eroding, with some calling current trends "fascism."
