📍 Stage and council

Franklin County • February 11, 2025

Good morning, Franklin County. Move over, Hamilton - Columbus is having its own historic moment in politics and theater. While Broadway sensation "& Juliet" brings Black representation center stage with Rachel Simone Webb's groundbreaking performance, attorney Jesse Vogel is writing his own revolutionary script, raising an astounding $71,324 in just six weeks for his City Council bid. Both are shattering old narratives about who gets to take the spotlight.

Meanwhile, The Refectory is proving that some classics never go out of style, landing at #39 on America's most romantic restaurants list. Between its softly lit dining rooms and French-American fusion cuisine, it's giving Columbus couples the perfect setting for their own love stories - no tragic Shakespeare endings required.

The District 7 candidate raised an impressive $71,324 in just six weeks from over 400 grassroots donors, distinguishing himself from traditionally developer-funded campaigns. As an openly gay, Jewish grandson of refugees, Vogel aims to bring diverse representation while addressing housing affordability and pre-K education access. His campaign has already knocked on 1,500 doors and gathered hundreds more signatures than required. Running as a progressive Democrat, Vogel emphasizes the urgent need to energize urban voters following recent Democratic losses in Ohio.
