📚 Free college transforms futures for thousands of Columbus students. The Columbus Promise program, which provides free tuition at Columbus State Community College, has more than doubled enrollment of Columbus City Schools graduates since 2021. The initiative's success has led to a $25 million expansion campaign, with $15.5 million already pledged for phase two. The program particularly benefits underserved communities, with 80% of participants being Pell-eligible and 60% identifying as Black or Latino. Thanks to the Promise, the district's college-going rate jumped from 32% to 50%, opening doors for 2,250 more students through 2027.
