🍂 Fall fuel break

Good morning, Fayette County. Fall's arrival is bringing more than just colorful leaves to our region—it's delivering welcome relief at the gas pump. South Central Ohio residents are now enjoying prices 12 cents lower than last week, with our regional average hitting $2.93 per gallon, well below the national figure of $3.13. This seasonal dip comes right on schedule as retailers make the annual switch to winter-blend gasoline, which typically costs less to produce and can be sold starting September 16th.

Meanwhile, both celebrations and farewells mark our community calendar. Highland County's summer-long scavenger hunt proved wildly successful, drawing 260 teams who completed thousands of photo and video missions while exploring local attractions. In more somber news, Lees Creek United Church of Christ held its final service after 195 years of ministry, though its legacy will continue through donations to East Clinton Schools, local libraries, and scholarship funds—transforming an ending into new beginnings.

🕰️ A small church closes, ending nearly two centuries of ministry. Lees Creek United Church of Christ held its final service on September 21, concluding 195 years since its founding in 1830. The congregation is donating its property to East Clinton Schools while remaining resources will support local libraries and scholarships. Declining attendance, aging membership, and lack of young families forced the closure – mirroring a national trend where an estimated 15,000 churches will close in 2025. Despite the sadness, members like 96-year-old Jayne Garber find comfort knowing the church's legacy will continue to benefit the community.
