Good morning, Fayette County. The numbers tell a sobering story in Ohio's budget battle – 770,000 low-income residents could lose healthcare access if proposed Medicaid cuts move forward, according to State Representative Allison Russo's recent address at the Highland County Democrats' dinner. Her critique of the budget proposal highlighted concerns about education funding redirection and potential rural hospital closures, while former First Lady Frances Strickland made a surprise appearance at the well-attended fundraiser.

In brighter local news, Highland County's Premier Showmen 4-H Club has etched their name in local history books, earning the county's first-ever Honor Club Award at Hillsboro High School. Their achievement showcases exceptional dedication through quality member work and participation across multiple levels. Meanwhile, county law enforcement stayed busy addressing everything from tool theft on Rittenhouse Road to vehicle vandalism on State Route 73, with the jail currently housing 51 inmates as deputies processed multiple arrests for various offenses.

Russo also highlighted how the legislation threatens healthcare access for 770,000 low-income Ohioans through Medicaid expansion cuts that could close rural hospitals.
