Good morning, Fairfield County. Mother Nature appears to have missed the memo about summer's arrival. As we approach Memorial Day weekend—traditionally the gateway to warm-weather adventures—Central Ohio residents are instead reaching for jackets and hoodies with temperatures stubbornly hovering 10-20 degrees below normal. The unseasonable chill has many wondering if we accidentally time-traveled back to March, with highs stuck in the 60s rather than the customary mid-70s we typically enjoy this time of year.

Fortunately, this meteorological mix-up has an expiration date. Weather forecasters offer a silver lining as we flip the calendar to June, predicting a welcome pattern shift that should finally deliver those summer temperatures we've been craving. By the time summer officially begins, we can put away the extra layers and embrace the seasonal warmth that makes Ohio summers worth the wait. Until then, perhaps consider this extended spring a bonus opportunity for comfortable outdoor activities without the sweltering heat.

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

❄️ Summer's unofficial start will feel more like late winter in Ohio. Central Ohio residents hoping for warm weather will have to wait, as temperatures are expected to remain 10-20 degrees below normal through the end of May. The Climate Prediction Center forecasts higher chances for below-normal temperatures, with highs primarily in the 60s instead of the typical mid-to-upper 70s. Relief is on the horizon, however, as early June should bring a pattern shift with temperatures returning to normal and even above-normal levels. By summer's official start, Ohioans can finally expect to enjoy those warmer 70s and 80s they've been waiting for.
