Good morning, Fairfield County. The future of policing is hovering overhead in Lancaster, where the department's expanded drone program now keeps constant "eyes in the sky" across the community. With 11 certified drone pilots among their ranks, officers are leveraging aerial technology to solve crimes, locate missing persons, and track suspects—a significant upgrade from previously relying on delayed support from Columbus authorities. These high-tech guardians are already making a difference in emergency response times throughout our growing region.

Meanwhile, Wednesday's traffic stop on I-77 revealed the dangers still lurking on our roadways when a K9 officer discovered substantial quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl hidden in Doritos bags. On the civic front, Tuesday's primary election saw just 10% of eligible voters selecting Republican nominees for Lancaster City Council, with mixed results for local tax levies—a reminder that even with low turnout, consequential decisions are still being made about our community's future.
