🌊 ODNR expands boating education access. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has announced that the online Ohio Boating Education Course is now available in Spanish, aiming to enhance boating safety among a diverse population. This initiative responds to a growing trend, as Hispanic individuals are becoming a significant segment of first-time boat buyers. By offering this course in Spanish, ODNR hopes to break down language barriers and foster safer recreational experiences on Ohio's waterways. The course covers essential topics including vessel operation and emergency preparation, providing the same quality education as its English counterpart.

🏡 Revisions shaped for Canal Winchester housing development. The developer of the proposed Miller Farms, a large housing project in Canal Winchester, tweaked their plans following a public hearing on December 2. At a recent city council meeting, the revised proposal showcased a commitment to preserving over 35 acres as open space and clarified that townhomes will be fee simple lots, while limiting certain types of commercial uses. Some residents expressed concerns about potential traffic and flooding issues, while others welcomed the benefits of increased housing variety. The council will review the proposal again at its January 6 meeting, setting the stage for future project development.
