Dublin • August 12, 2025
Good morning, Dublin. The age-old saying "something old, something new" took on special meaning for Nora and Andrew Fahmy, who celebrated their love with not one but two wedding ceremonies. The couple honored both tradition and personal style, incorporating Coptic Orthodox rituals complete with ceremonial crowns at St. Mary Church before hosting an American ceremony downtown—with the bride showcasing two stunning gowns for her double celebration.
In stark contrast to wedding bells, alarm bells are ringing across town as Sutphen Corporation workers continue their strike since late May, causing delivery delays that have already cost the company a $2.5 million Columbus ladder truck order. Adding to local concerns, former Franklin County sheriff's deputy Charles Davis heads to trial Tuesday facing serious allegations—58 counts including rape and gross sexual imposition—in a case expected to last through the week.

👰 Two ceremonies, two gowns, one beautiful love story. Nora and Andrew Fahmy celebrated their marriage with both a traditional Coptic ceremony at St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church and an American ceremony at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel. The bride wore a gown from Vow'd for the Coptic service and changed into a dress from Luxe Redux Bridal for the American ceremony. Their special day featured traditional elements including ceremonial crowns used in the Coptic wedding. The celebration, planned by 614 Events and Planning with florals by Flocal Co. Floral Studio, was captured by Kyle Long Photography.
🚒 Sutphen workers strike for better pay amid fire truck delays. Union employees at Sutphen Corporation have been picketing since late May, demanding improved contracts from the fire truck manufacturer. Teamsters General President Sean O'Brien joined the picket line Monday, showing solidarity as workers receive $1,000 weekly in strike pay. The labor dispute has already impacted Columbus, which canceled a $2.5 million ladder truck order after Sutphen couldn't meet delivery deadlines. Despite the strike, the company maintains it continues to build fire apparatus at all facilities while negotiating in good faith.
