Good morning, Dev Test County. The secret to career success might just be a three-letter word: "yes." Goldman Sachs executive Aasem Khalil's remarkable journey from photocopying textbook pages to heading the firm's ambitious $500 million Dallas campus shows how embracing unexpected opportunities can lead to extraordinary places. His philosophy that "if Dallas wins, we all win" reflects the collaborative spirit propelling our region forward.

Meanwhile, transportation in North Texas is experiencing its own transformation with the Silver Line's debut connecting seven cities from Plano to DFW Airport. The sleek new rail service offers free rides through November 8, making urban exploration effortless. In a curious twist, however, Dallas' efforts to strengthen its nightlife through a new Nighttime Economy Division has inadvertently threatened local music venues with sudden enforcement of long-ignored cover fee regulations—putting beloved spots like Revelers Hall and The Free Man in a precarious position.

💼 Goldman Sachs executive built career on the power of saying yes. Aasem Khalil rose from analyst to head of Goldman's Dallas office through repeatedly accepting unexpected opportunities. After starting with photocopied textbook pages to land his first role, Khalil has taken on leadership positions across chemicals, Latin America, and now Dallas—despite having no specialized background in these areas. Goldman is expanding its Texas presence with a $500 million campus designed to house 4,500 employees. Khalil praises Dallas's collaborative business culture, saying "if Dallas wins, we all win."

🎵 Dallas cracks down on music venues charging cover fees. The city's new Nighttime Economy Division, designed to strengthen Dallas' nightlife and prepare for the 2026 World Cup, has paradoxically begun enforcing long-ignored codes against local music venues. Revelers Hall in Bishop Arts and The Free Man in Deep Ellum were suddenly cited for charging covers for live music without proper permits, threatening their business models. City Council members Chad West and Jesse Moreno were caught off guard by the enforcement and are now working to update outdated codes. Meanwhile, venue owners struggle with no grace period to adjust, putting Dallas' vibrant music scene at risk.
