Good morning, Dev Test County. A wave of tragedy struck Dallas roads this week as a fiery early-morning crash claimed one life when a silver sedan rear-ended a vehicle carrying a family of four. In another heartbreaking incident, the local comedy community is mourning the loss of 29-year-old Henry Cruz, remembered for "bringing laughter and joy" through his performances before his life was cut short in a hit-and-run. Police have now arrested 21-year-old Angel Vergara Rojas in connection with Cruz's death.

Amid these somber headlines, civil rights veteran Peter Johnson offers a powerful challenge to the city's religious leaders. At 80 years old, the man who once marched alongside Martin Luther King Jr. is calling on Dallas' faith community to reclaim their moral voice on issues from poverty to violence—echoing how diverse religious leaders united during the Civil Rights Movement around the fundamental belief in human dignity.

🙏 Dallas needs prophets of justice now more than ever. Civil rights veteran Peter Johnson, who marched with Martin Luther King Jr., challenges Dallas faith leaders to reclaim their moral voice. At 80, he laments how many churches in this deeply religious city remain silent on pressing issues like poverty, segregation, and gun violence. Johnson recalls how the Civil Rights Movement succeeded because diverse religious leaders united around the biblical truth that every person is made in God's image. He urges today's religious leaders to speak uncomfortable truths and stand against injustice, just as their predecessors did.
