🏠 Greenville goes luxe

Good morning, Darke County. Luxury homes in Greenville have reached impressive heights, with the top property commanding $789,000—though that seems almost quaint compared to the national ultra-luxury market where Florida's finest fetched a staggering $133 million this year. While the wealthy continue investing in premium real estate, local leadership is also seeing some valuable changes.

Meanwhile, the St. Marys Police Department welcomed new leadership as Lucas Turpin and Scott Buschur stepped into their roles as Chief and Sergeant. And in a remarkable celebration of resilience, Troy resident John Fisher recently marked his 100th birthday—a century that included surviving polio, witnessing 17 presidents, and embracing technology well into his golden years. When asked about reaching this milestone, Fisher humbly called it "the luck of the draw."

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

🏠 Greenville's luxury homes hit nearly $800K while national sales soar. The top home in the Ohio metro area sold for $789,000 on Richmond Palestine Road, with four other properties fetching between $650,000-$721,000 in 2025. These prices pale in comparison to national ultra-luxury sales, where California and Florida dominate the market. The nation's most expensive 2025 transaction was a Naples, Florida property that sold for a staggering $133 million, while Los Angeles saw two homes sell for $110 million each. Despite cooling markets in some regions due to climate-related insurance costs, wealthy buyers continue investing in real estate as a tangible asset.
