Good morning, Cuyahoga County. Downtown Cleveland just secured a major financial boost that will keep its streets cleaner and safer for the next decade. The $43.5 million reauthorization of the Downtown Cleveland Improvement District marks a historic milestone with both the city and county joining as funding partners for the first time in its 23-year history. Those friendly Downtown Ambassadors you see cleaning streets and providing safety patrols? Eighty percent of this substantial funding ensures they'll continue their essential work through 2032.
In less welcome news, Cleveland Police are searching for a bold thief who reached directly into a woman's car to snatch her purse at a Lorain Avenue PNC Bank drive-thru ATM. Meanwhile, former hospital chaplain Ayman Soliman faces a December trial date after his asylum status was revoked—a case his attorney insists is based on mischaracterized charity work rather than the alleged terrorist connections claimed by authorities.
