🏛️ Historic Black Baptist headquarters gets new life as affordable housing. The former Ohio Baptist General Association building on Columbus's Parkwood Avenue, once a cornerstone of civil rights activism, has been transformed after years of restoration. The 1950s structure, which hosted NAACP meetings and condemned Emmett Till's murder, now features 36 apartment units while preserving architectural elements like original porch tiles and stained glass. Developers overcame limited historical documentation by consulting architectural experts and community memories. The renovated complex reopened in 2023 with National Historic Register status and a new motto: "Where history meets modern living."
