🏛️ Covington mayor's power and paycheck set to skyrocket. A major government overhaul approved by 61% of voters will transition the Kentucky city from a city manager system to a "strong mayor" format by 2027. The change eliminates the city manager position and gives the mayor direct authority over departments and daily operations. A transition committee has recommended increasing the mayor's salary by 185% to $95,335.76, reducing commissioner pay by 33%, and expanding the city council from four to six members. City commissioners will vote on these recommendations starting May 13.
