🌧️ Flood watch woes

Clermont County • April 1, 2025

Good morning, Clermont County. Mother Nature is flexing her muscles this week as a massive flood watch blankets 50 counties across three states. With already saturated ground and a weather system stalling along the Ohio River through Saturday, residents in low-lying areas should prepare for potential flooding – especially during those overnight hours when the heaviest rainfall is expected to arrive.

In more uplifting news, the power of determined parents is on full display as Xavier University's Montessori Lab School families transformed potential educational heartbreak into opportunity. In just 100 days, they've partnered with Cincinnati Public Schools to create a new Montessori program at the Bramble Nature Campus. Meanwhile, spring has officially sprung across Cincinnati with a kaleidoscope of activities – from thousands of tulips blooming at the zoo to immersive Titanic experiences downtown and Reds baseball returning to the diamond.

🌧️ Massive flood watch threatens 50 counties across three states. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from Wednesday evening through Sunday morning for parts of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. A weather boundary crossing the region Wednesday night will create significant rainfall with thunderstorms, then stall along the Ohio River through Saturday. Officials warn that already moist soils could lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas, with the heaviest rainfall expected during overnight hours. Residents in flood-prone areas should prepare to take action.

🏫 Parents create new Montessori school in just 100 days. After Xavier University announced the end of its beloved Montessori Lab School, determined parents rallied to find a solution. Within three months, they partnered with Cincinnati Public Schools to establish a new Montessori program at the Bramble Nature Campus in Madisonville. More than 100 of the lab school's 158 students have already enrolled for next year, though families with incoming seventh and eighth-graders face difficult decisions. The move may ultimately make Montessori education more accessible in Cincinnati, a city with a 50-year history of public Montessori schools.
