❤️ Every drop counts

Cincinnati • February 21, 2025

Good morning, Cincinnati. When it comes to tracking impact, there's nothing quite like seeing your good deeds in action. Just ask Cincinnati's blood donors, who can now follow their life-saving contributions from donation chair to hospital bed through Hoxworth's new digital notification system. It's a reminder that in our interconnected city, every drop counts – whether it's helping accident victims or supporting our neighbors battling cancer.

And speaking of transformative changes, the Queen City's political landscape is getting a shake-up. As Mayor Pureval faces two Republican challengers in what's shaping up to be a compelling three-way race, Over-the-Rhine is preparing for its own evolution. The ambitious $33.4M "Lockard" development isn't just bringing new housing – it's breathing fresh life into the iconic Grammer's restaurant, proving that Cincinnati knows how to honor its past while building its future.

🗳️ Three-way battle emerges for Cincinnati's top job in 2024. Current Democratic Mayor Aftab Pureval faces challenges from two Republican candidates, including JD Vance's half-brother Cory Bowman and retired Navy veteran Brian Frank. All three candidates have submitted well over the required 500 signatures to qualify for the ballot. The race will likely head to a May primary to narrow the field to two candidates for November's election. At 42, incumbent Pureval brings political experience as former County Clerk, while newcomer Bowman, 36, serves as a pastor, and Frank, 66, leverages his military and procurement background.

❤️ Donors can now track exactly where their blood saves lives. Hoxworth Blood Center, serving over 30 regional hospitals in Greater Cincinnati, has launched a new email notification system for blood donors. Instead of traditional mail letters, donors receive immediate updates when their donation reaches a local hospital. The impact is significant - from helping car accident victims requiring 50 units to cancer patients using 25% of the blood supply. With constant demand across the Tristate area, each donation directly supports neighbors, friends, and family members in need.
