Athens County • July 21, 2025
Good morning, Athens County. The local real estate market is buzzing with activity as multiple properties changed hands in mid-July, including a significant $580,000 Radford Road transaction. The property carousel didn't stop there, with sales ranging from modest $100,000 homes to James E. Miller's eye-popping $649,000 Torch Road purchase. These transactions span Athens, Albany, Millfield, and Coolville, showing healthy market activity across our communities.
In a dramatic turn of events, two Columbus men learned the hard way that Athens County isn't the place for a joy ride in a stolen vehicle. Their high-speed escape ended with one suspect walking through a field and another hiding under a camper at Hidden Valley RV Campground. On a more hopeful note, parents can breathe easier knowing that OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital has partnered with Nationwide Children's Hospital to bring specialized pediatric emergency care right to our doorstep, eliminating those stressful drives to Columbus when little ones need expert attention.
