Good morning, Athens County. The mercury may have been climbing at the 19th Nelsonville Music Festival, but that didn't stop dedicated music lovers from turning out in force. Performances by Shirlette Ammons, The Bug Club, and Charley Crockett electrified crowds despite the sweltering heat, while photographers captured both the on-stage energy and festival atmosphere. The celebration even featured a touching tribute to Michael Hurley with Viewmasters displaying his photographic legacy.

While musical notes filled Nelsonville's air, less harmonious news emerged with former city clerk Jessica Mount facing felony charges for allegedly pocketing $5,000 in city funds. On a brighter note, environmental champion Ava Wood joins Ohio University's Board of Trustees, bringing her sustainability expertise and community service experience to represent student perspectives through 2027. The Environmental Studies major balances academic pursuits with her advocacy work and involvement in campus organizations.
