📍 Two Sides To Every Story

Athens County • February 17, 2025

Good morning, Athens County. On basketball courts and in dorm rooms, this week's headlines remind us that every story has two sides. While Athens High's seniors created lasting memories in their emotional victory over Alexander - complete with clutch performances and heartfelt celebrations - across town, a very different scene unfolded at Hocking Heights, where a police raid exposed the darker edges of campus life.

But between these contrasting narratives, there's hope growing in the heart of Appalachia. The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio is seeding possibility across 32 counties with their $1,000 grant opportunities. It's a reminder that sometimes the most powerful changes start small - whether that's creating a calm space for students or building support systems for families facing challenges. The deadline's approaching on March 18, and with it, the chance to write new stories of community transformation.

The Unioto Shermans turned Saturday's non-league matchup into their own personal highlight reel, steamrolling Athens 75-53 in a game that was about as competitive as a spelling bee against autocorrect. The Bulldogs might want to burn this game tape and chalk it up as a learning experience.
